North Georgia
artist
Broderick Crawford was born and raised in the southern
Appalachian Mountains in the small town of Tiger, Ga.
Raised by a father and mother who operated a kennel, their love
for animals was instilled into Broderick early on. Growing
up he was also surrounded with some of the most beautiful
mountains and landscapes the world has to offer. Deep rooting a
love that is beyond words to describe his appreciation for
all nature has to offer. Combing the mountain sides
and rivers from his early years until today is what drives his
artistic talent.
Coming from a strong genetic background of artistic ancestors, Broderick is a completely self taught artist. Broderick works in different mediums, but his personal favorite is acrylic. He works on both canvases and masonite panels. He has a unique and an occasional varied style. Impressionism, realism and some abstraction make up most of his work. Through his creativeness Broderick hopes he affords his collectors the opportunity to get to share some of what he sees in the beauty of our natural world. Some of his collectors compare his work to the old classic styles of days gone by.
Since he began painting seriously in 1992, Broderick has produced over 70 Limited Edition prints, numerous originals and commissioned pieces. An avid competitor, he competes in numerous painting competitions. He enters the Federal Duck Stamp Competition every year, and he competes in most states that open their competitions up nationally. He has placed in the top 5 and 10 many times, but his most recent national competition wins include 1st place in the 2009 Colorado Habitat Stamp Competition and 1st place in the Idaho Ducks Unlimited 2010/2011 competition. Broderick's rendition of an old hunting scene with two guys throwing out all Challenge Grade Mason Decoys was chosen hands down by all the judges. Giving him the title of 2010/2011 Idaho DU Artist of the Year.
While Broderick is proud of all his accomplishments, his favorite win came this past May when he won the 2010/2011 Georgia Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year. Georgia had been commissioning their art work for years, but decided to go back to a competition. His painting of three Widgeons will be published into a limited edition print series to help raise money for conservation throughout Georgia.
Most days Broderick works and paints at his studio at home. However, on Friday and Saturday's he can be found along side his wife Michele working in the Gallery to meet and socialize with friends and collectors. Always be sure to visit to sit and talk a spell if you're in North Georgia.
